Some interesting SERP activity in the sub-niche of blockchain courses
Even a cursory search on Coursera will show that there is indeed a wide selection of crypto and blockchain courses provided by top US universities. The top course is an intro to blockchain by Princeton University, and more than 630 000 students enrolled in this course as of the time of writing this.
What are crypto courses though? Is there an opportunity for independent education? Is there a market for sharing educational resources online, in this sub-niche of crypto?
The SERP
Anyway, here is the top 10 SERP hits for "crypto courses" in February 2022. Obviously, the SERP is taken up by educational institutions and well-established, high authority course hubs.
There is clearly some niche activity as seen from indie outlets postings ... or even here..., but there seem to be focused on service providers in the edu industry.

The internet has been around for a while now, and there are many online resources covering different aspects of blockchain technology - from an unbiased Wikipedia article to the most advanced cryptocurrency white paper. However, if you are trying to learn cryptography or technology behind Bitcoin yourself, it would take you months of studying just to catch up with the basics.
There are some newer educational sites that provide free courses though - Udemy being one example. So far these have not broken into mainstream popularity though, as they cannot really compete with established online course providers like Coursera. Crypto-related content, on the other hand, is thriving - if you go to YouTube and type in "crypto course", you will find dozens of different video courses. It's not likely that these are produced by big names though - there is no shortage of self-made tutorials for blockchain technology online.
There are also many crypto podcasts with no clear organization or identity behind them - just people sharing their knowledge about cryptocurrencies with others who are interested in this emerging field. This is the community-based activity that, if done well, can create a healthy business environment for entrepreneurs of large and small budgets alike.
That said, digital assets trading platforms like Coinbase have their own educational resources that cover cryptocurrency investment basics.
Video documentaries could be a better opportunity
The sub-niche mentioned above consists mainly of videos and text documents created by independent users; however, one cannot discount the popularity of cryptocurrency documentaries (there are hundreds of them on YouTube) which are usually released by major broadcasters. Furthermore, they have real budgets behind them!
What can blockchain entrepreneurs do to stand out amidst all this content? If you are specializing in the field of blockchain technology, creating original videos is certainly not a bad idea. The subject isn't mainstream enough yet to compete with established providers, but it's growing fast - so there might be an opportunity for independent learning resources online after all.
It remains to be seen whether these will keep their value over time though...
